Mostra: a festival to nourish the scene
What we do with the heart conveys passion, purity, honesty and determination. A beating heart is synonymous with life, pulsing to a rhythm, a vibration, a measure of BPM. Mostra is a project that comes straight from the heart. An independent, small-format festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music which emerged as a counterpoint to the macro-festivals and the overcrowded, commercial and impersonal offerings of other large events held in Barcelona. We are a festival consciously linking ourselves to the socio-cultural background and artistic fabric of our city. The Mostra project was conceived during the period of our harshest confinement from Covid-19, a time full of uncertainties in which culture came to a complete standstill. We wanted to celebrate life again with a new cultural proposal for Barcelona which included an electronic music festival and many more complementary activities throughout the year. 2022 was the year in which we returned to dance, embrace each other, share experiences and, above all, enjoy live music at a festival. But Mostra returned something more: a project whose values come straight from the heart, and will be celebrating its fourth edition in 2025.
EXTRAMOSTRA
Regular programming of events in different venues and clubs across the city of Barcelona, and also advancing to other cities in Spain and overseas to give visibility to local artists that are often not to be found on the regular circuit.
MOSTRA'M
Programming of a series of debates, seminars, conferences and workshops related to the main axes of the festival: local, inclusive and sustainable. These are days of reflection which take place during the week of the festival and cover different topics at each edition of the festival.
FIRA
An area of stands for local collectives, record shops, clubs and venues, entities related to electronic music and nightlife culture, LGBTIQ+ rights, sustainability, safe spaces, new technologies, music schools and Mostra merchandising during the festival.
MOSTRADIO
Content creation for radio podcasts published periodically through social networks, offering visibility to projects in the city and dealing with current issues in the scene, its artists and venues. It also serves as a platform for disseminating new records.
MOSTRARESPECT
Mostra is a respectful space where all expressions and identities have a place. It is a project created from the heart, founded upon values of mutual care and embracing diversity. During the festival, we want everyone to be able to dance, create connections and enjoy the music in the most friendly way possible.
GUEST COUNTRY
The name Mostra is a reflection on what’s going on in Barcelona, We always try to give space in our line-up to artists who live in the city or are closely linked to Barcelona. At the same time, Mostra is a bridge to art, film and theatre mostras - showcases - so each edition will focus on a guest country by adding artists to the roster from that particular region.
